Who are we looking for? GHD has an opportunity for a mid-level Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist to work with our Contaminated Assessment Remediation (CAR) group as a CAR professional based in our Farmington Hills, MI office. If you are a self-motivated professional with excellent technical skills, federal/state/local environmental regulatory knowledge, and existing relationships with clients, prospects, and regulators then this is a great opportunity to explore! Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Using knowledge of various engineering and scientific disciplines, you may collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend action based on data derived from measurements or observations of air, soil, water, waste and other sources. Work may include regulatory interpretation, site investigation, site remediation, environmental compliance and/or waste treatment/management. Responsibilities of the position will be but are not limited to: Data Collection and Analysis * Collate, analyze, and interpret environmental data, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. * Conduct research and compile technical inputs for reports, work plans, and closure documentation. Personal Capability Building * Maintain relevant certifications (e.g., HAZWOPER 40-hour) and pursue continuing professional development. * Stay current with environmental regulations, remedial technologies, and industry best practices. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) * Follow HSE policies and promote a proactive, behavior-based safety culture. * Participate in continuous improvement and occasional after-hours environmental emergency response. Client & Customer Management (External) * Support client engagement, interacting with internal teams, clients, contractors, and regulators. * Assist senior colleagues in managing key accounts. Sampling and Testing * Conduct field sampling and monitoring across media in line with established procedures. * Oversee operation and maintenance of remedial systems where applicable. Project Management * Provide technical and project management support, balancing scope, schedule, and budget. * Prepare proposals, cost estimates, work plans, and specifications. Environmental Impact Assessment & Solutions Analysis * Deliver environmental assessments and remedial recommendations. * Apply critical thinking to problem-solving, remediation design, and economic decision making. Insights and Reporting * Prepare technical correspondence, regulatory reports, and client deliverables. Bid Solicitation / Community of Practice / Risk Management * Contribute to proposals and RFP/RFT responses. * Participate in internal communities of practice to share expertise. * Support identification, assessment, and mitigation of environmental risks. Education * Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Geology, or related Applied Science (Master's preferred) * Maintain certifications such as OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, professional licensure (PE/PG) where applicable, and a valid driver's license Experience * 5-10 years of environmental consulting experience, including field work, data evaluation, and report preparation * Experience managing multiple tasks with attention to detail in a consulting environment * Experience preparing regulatory work plans and closure documentation preferred * Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff is a plus #LI-JS1 Take on some of the world's toughest challenges - with everyone at GHD backing you every step of the way.
