Position Summary
Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) and the Children & Youth Institute (CYI) seek a dynamic individual to serve as the Mackinac County 4-H Program Coordinator. This position provides leadership and oversight for the growth and management of local 4-H programs, volunteers, and youth participants. The coordinator will work collaboratively with MSUE staff, community partners, and volunteers to deliver high-quality, research-based youth development programs that meet local needs and align with statewide goals.
Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate county-based 4-H youth programs, including clubs, after-school programs, special interest groups, and school enrichment activities.
- Conduct needs assessments with local stakeholders to ensure programming relevance.

Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers following MSUE’s Volunteer Selection Process.
- Provide leadership and guidance to 4-H councils, committees, and clubs, including financial management training.

Community Engagement:
- Build partnerships with schools, community organizations, and local leaders to expand program reach.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all programming efforts.

Administration:
- Ensure compliance with MSUE and 4-H policies and procedures.
- Report program outcomes and maintain accurate records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, agriculture, family studies, or related field.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn MSUE systems.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in youth development, volunteer management, or community education.
- Knowledge of 4-H programs and positive youth development principles.
