Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: The Department of Engineering Technology at Northern Michigan University invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professor (or Instructor in a three year term position) to teach undergraduate courses and labs in the Electrical Engineering Technology programs. We are seeking outstanding candidates with industrial engineering experience and expertise in electrical engineering, computer engineering, embedded systems, microcontrollers, and/or industrial automation and control systems. Additional duties include fostering and maintaining professional relationships with industry personnel, and active participation in ABET accreditation support and service and leadership to the department, the campus, and the professional community. A terminal degree in electrical engineering or related field is required for the rank of Assistant Professor and tenure track. A Master’s degree is required for the rank of instructor and a three year term appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with professional licenses and certifications in related fields. This is a campus-based position that will start in Fall 2026. This position is not currently available for sponsorship.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: Master's Degree
Discipline/Degree Area:  Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Related Field
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:  Master's Degree required for a three year term appointment at the rank of Instructor.
Terminal Degree required for a tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. (A terminal degree consists of either a doctoral degree OR a master's degree plus professional engineer license.)
Required Minimum Work Experience:  4 or more years of hands-on industrial/engineering experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 
Demonstrate the ability to prepare and teach undergraduate engineering technology courses and labs using different modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online)

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 
Terminal degree in engineering or engineering technology with a focus in electrical engineering or closely related field 
More than five years of verifiable industrial/engineering experience in the United States
University teaching experience.
Experience in grant writing
Professional licenses and certifications
Experience in curriculum development and improvement
Experience in program review and accreditation such as ABET
Strong publication record
Experience in online teaching
