The purpose of this job is to oversee all aspects of recreation programs offered by the City. These programs include youth sports, adult fitness, aquatics, summer day camp programming, youth instructional classes, outdoor recreation, facility rentals, and ice rink operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervises the work of assigned personnel; participates in hiring, training and disciplinary actions; delegates work assignments; conducts performance evaluations
- Studies recreation needs; recommends action to meet them; initiates and promotes recreation services
- Assists in the interpretation of the recreation program to the general public and private agencies through the use of press releases and other techniques involving news media as well as public speaking engagements
- Assembles data for presentation to the director; and prepares routine and special reports and charts
- Oversees the receipt of fees or charges in connection with the recreation program; prepares budget estimates and work programs for the assigned area of specialization
- Balances program responsibilities/leadership with full and part-time staff
- Meets with potential community partners; responds to inquiries and resolves complaints from customers
- Assists with soliciting sponsors for programs
- Works closely with maintenance staff to coordinate facility and program needs
- Performs related work as required
