Performance Driven Workforce (PDW) is now hiring Full-time Automotive Mechanics (minimum 1 year automotive shop experience required) to support an automotive Tier 1 supplier in Flat Rock, MI. This is not a general labor or trainee role — we are seeking motivated candidates to join our growing team who have hands-on mechanical experience and are ready to apply their skills to experimental prototype vehicles and retrofits. Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain prototype vehicles
- Perform a variety of mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic tasks
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs
- Work closely with engineers and test teams to troubleshoot issues
- Maintain accurate repair and service documentation
- Ensure a safe and organized work environment
Shifts:
- AM day shift: 6:45 am - 3:30 pm (Monday – Friday, plus weekends as needed)
- PM night shift: 3:30 pm – 12:00 am (Monday – Friday, plus weekends as needed)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-year of hands-on automotive mechanic experience
- Minimum 1-year working in an automotive shop environment
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Familiarity with basic automotive systems, (removing the dashboard and replacing airbags, engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes)
- Mechanical ability to operate shop equipment
- Own your own tools with a rolling lockable toolbox, (if not, PDW offers a toolbox program)
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions, schematics, and written procedures
- Technical experience in automotive, diesel, electronics, or similar fields strongly preferred
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Preferred qualifications but not required:
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- ASE certifications
- Ford experience
- Prototype build technician / mechanic experience
