This full-time teaching position includes instruction of various electronics courses, automation & Robotics, Lights and Lasers, Photonics, computers and AI in various instructional delivery methods, including traditional classroom, video-based, independent study, internet protocol video (IPV), accelerated, self-paced, online (Internet), or others methods as appropriate. This person will also be responsible for all lab areas, equipment, tools, and materials as needed. In addition to onsite classroom teaching, this includes the possibility of teaching night and/or weekend courses. The successful candidate will enjoy working with diverse populations but still be able to connect one-on-one with students. This individual will have good listening skills and the ability to understand the needs of others, be flexible and able to deal with interruptions, and will maintain a high work ethic and integrity.
This person is responsible for working in conjunction with the rest of the Technical Academic Area toward the development and instruction of technical courses, including prepare and deliver lesson plans that stimulate and enhance student interest and learning, conduct assessment, curriculum and course development; advising students on curriculum, academic programs, employment and career goals; supporting and contributing to the growth and development of the academic area. This person is expected to be trained as an academic advisor in the Engineering Technology programs, after the completion of the first year to begin advising the second year. This instructor will also share in scheduling, recommending the hire of and overseeing adjunct faculty, handling student complaints and issues, placement, textbook selection, and budgets.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, education, or field related to the position.
- Minimum of three years of professional teaching experience at the college level
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a electronics or automation industry sector
Preferred
- Experience in automatous or unmanned systems (UAS, ROV, AUV, UGV)
- Experience with PLC's
- Experience with online and face-to-face course development and instruction
- Knowledge and experience of battery technology
- Experience in high voltage DC or fiber optics
- Minimum of 5 years in the electronics, automation, or a related industry sector
- Photonics or laser technology experience
- Master’s degree in engineering, electronics, education, or field related to the position
- Skills and experience working with computer software programs that are commonly used in the Technical field (i.e. Automation studio, electrical schematic analysis, etc.)
- Experience with marine and / or aviation electronics
Provide classroom/lab instruction to students and develop theory including but not limited to online, accelerated, livestream, hybrid and face-to-face formats, recruitment activities, and industry engagement.

- Compiles, administers, and grades examinations and other learning activities
- Uses current and emerging technologies in distance learning and in the classroom; conducts classroom research with classroom assessment techniques
