Do you have a passion for fitness and motivating others to live their healthiest lives? The City of Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department is seeking energetic and dependable Group Fitness Instructors to lead fun, safe, and engaging fitness classes for our community.
From yoga and strength training to HIIT and cardio, you’ll bring energy, expertise, and encouragement to help participants of all skill levels reach their goals.
What You’ll Do
As a Group Fitness Instructor, you’ll:

Lead dynamic and inclusive 30–60-minute fitness classes for participants of all ages and abilities.

Motivate and guide participants through safe, effective workouts with proper technique and modifications.

Foster a positive and supportive class environment that promotes health, confidence, and fun.

Maintain attendance records and ensure all equipment is used responsibly.

Uphold safety and cleanliness standards in every class.

Represent Kentwood Parks & Recreation with professionalism, courtesy, and enthusiasm.

About You
You’re positive, reliable, and passionate about helping others achieve their fitness goals. You thrive in a team environment and love creating a motivating, inclusive experience for participants.
Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED
-
At least one (1) year of experience leading group fitness classes
-
Current Group Fitness Certification (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, etc.)

Certified Personal Trainer certification preferred

Strong communication and motivational skills
-
Commitment to safety, inclusivity, and professionalism

Pay & Perks

Pay Rate: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
