Do you have a passion for helping others and creating inclusive opportunities for people of all abilities? The City of Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department is seeking compassionate and energetic Adaptive Recreation Instructors to lead fun, meaningful activities for individuals with disabilities.
From art and cooking classes to gardening and social clubs, you’ll be part of a program that celebrates inclusion, connection, and creativity.
What You’ll Do
As an Adaptive Recreation Instructor, you’ll:

Plan and lead adaptive recreational and enrichment programs such as Arts & Crafts, Cooking, Gardening, and Leisure Club.

Provide instruction and support tailored to participants’ needs and abilities.

Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.

Supervise participants to ensure safety and encourage social interaction and confidence-building.

Manage program supplies, report maintenance needs, and ensure equipment is used responsibly.

Complete attendance, incident, and other department forms as required.

About You
You’re caring, patient, and creative—and you believe everyone deserves access to recreation that fits their needs. You enjoy helping others succeed and thrive in a team-oriented, community-focused setting.
Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED
-
At least one (1) year of experience working with individuals with disabilities

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Understanding of adaptive needs and inclusion practices

Pay & Perks

Pay Rate: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Irregular part-time schedule based on program and event needs
