Schedule is variable Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., approximately 15-20 hours per week. Flexibility is expected based on the needs of athletic team schedules and the College. This role requires on-site presence and in-person support.
Position Summary
The Study Table Moderator supports the academic success of KCC student-athletes by facilitating structured, quiet study sessions ("Study Tables"), monitoring attendance, and providing light tutorial and study-skills assistance. The role promotes a positive learning environment, reinforces effective study behaviors, and connects students with Center for Student Success (CSS) resources, instructors, and academic advisors as appropriate. In addition, Study Table Moderators may provide direct tutoring in the Center for Student Success in the academic subject areas in which they are qualified.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Associate's degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent related education.
• At least one (1+) year of demonstrated experience supporting students with coursework, exam preparation, and/or learning strategies.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to set and hold clear academic-environment expectations.
• Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented; able to maintain accurate attendance records.
• Commitment to student success, equity, and inclusive practices; adherence to FERPA and institutional policies.
Preferred but not Required
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university.
• Experience tutoring or providing academic support in a college setting.
• Familiarity with the needs of student-athletes and balancing academic/athletic commitments.
• Knowledge of campus resources (CSS services, advising, instructor office hours) and referral practices.
• Experience with basic education technology and record-keeping tools (e.g., shared spreadsheets, LMS, Starfish or similar).
Proposed Salary
Current 25/26 hourly rate is $17.92/hour.

Job Duties
Essential Function: Study Table Facilitation & Environment Management
Description:
• Supervise Study Table sessions and ensure a quiet, academically focused environment.
• Monitor sign-in and sign-out procedures; maintain accurate attendance records.
• Enforce guidelines for study-related conversations, device use, and respectful collaboration.
• Ensure students appropriately utilize CSS services, instructor office hours, or advising appointments during scheduled Study Table time.
Essential Function: Academic Support & Tutoring
Description:
• Provide tutorial support, study-skills coaching, and guidance with coursework, exam preparation, and learning strategies.
• Offer tutoring in qualified subject areas within Study Tables and/or in the Center for Student Success.
• Encourage help-seeking behaviors and connect students to appropriate campus resources.
Essential Function: Communication, Reporting and Professional Practice
Description:
• Submit accurate attendance logs to supervisor (and coaches, as requested).
• Communicate concerns regarding student participation or performance to supervisor.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and FERPA compliance.
• Participate in required trainings/meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of Study Table operations.
