The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $65,000 - $140,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
What You Will Do in This Role
Design complex systems that integrate hardware and software.
Utilize computer-aided design tools to create and modify engineering drawing sets.
Create scope of work documents detailing changes to direct installation of electrical components and wiring.
Modify or create PLC programs for a material handling system.
Includes interfacing with peripherals and third-party equipment.
Design complex networks, coordinating with customer IT teams with considerations such as firewall, cybersecurity and hardware security.
Work with visualization teams to deliver and document status data of the system. Perform safety calculations for electrical design and system rates.
Determine correct hardware sizing.
Oversee project administration including overall budget, scheduling, and coordination with internal (project management, mechanical engineers, software and installation teams) and external customers.
Aid in the start-up, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems.
Validate electrical connections performed by installation.
Commission new material handling equipment and validate proper functionality.
Perform customer acceptance testing to ensure contractually required deliverables are met.
Direct and coordinate commissioning teams on site.
Dictate and track progress and ensure safety and overall success of the project.
Recommend ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction.
Provide advanced escalation support for customers. Assist with software PLC emulation and testing of material handling systems.
What We Are Looking For
Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering, electrical engineering or closely related field and 5 years of experience as a Commissioning Engineer, Controls Engineer, Electrical Engineer or closely related occupation.
Also requires 2 years of experience with planning and creating schematic and panel assembly drawings; working with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Schneider Electric and/or Siemens), HMIs, and VFD's;
implementation and commissioning of engineering design projects; testing and commissioning electrical and software aspects of conveyor and sortation systems using NEC, NFPA and UL electrical codes; Auto CAD Electrical for schematic drawings;
Ethernet TCP/IP; motor controls, tuning VFD’s, performing FLA calculations for size motors and transformers, and technical writing for operational descriptions; testing E-Stop and safety relay circuits; troubleshooting electrical control systems related to power distribution and material handling equipment; using and calibrating photo-eyes, scanners, and barcode readers; performing compliance checks on other engineer’s documents and schematic drawings.
