Marquette Board of Light and Power seeks a Collections Clerk to join their team in Marquette, MI. As a Collections Clerk, you are responsible for delivering exceptional customer service through phone, email, and in-person interactions, managing both residential and commercial accounts, preparing delinquent account reports, and serving as a professional point of contact with the public.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.
- Handle delinquent account collections in accordance with MBLP policies under management supervision.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of MBLP Board policies, regulatory rules, and customer protections; may represent MBLP at meetings as needed.
- Prepare and manage delinquent notices, shut-off lists, and other collection-related functions.
- Coordinate with third-party customer assistance providers for account information and updates.
- Perform customer service functions including payment processing, work orders, inquiries, and related financial tasks.
- Work with customers to establish and approve financial arrangements.
- Prepare reminder letters for inactive accounts and submit unpaid accounts to collections on schedule.
- Assist with other customer service tasks and support development/implementation of billing or accounting systems.
- Collaborate with teams to implement billing upgrades and integrate services.
- Administer deposits for residential and commercial accounts, including issuing refund checks.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
- Associate Degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
- Experience working in the utility industry and/or collections processing is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be willing to work overtime and adjust schedule as needed to meet work demand.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
