Key Responsibilities
Operates a semi-truck and trailer according to applicable federal and state/provincial transportation laws and regulations.
Performs preventive maintenance on trailer equipment.
Performs troubleshooting and root cause analysis of repair issues.
Service and repair trailers.
Utilizes manuals, work orders, hand and power tools, and measuring tools to complete tasks.
Assembles, disassembles, repairs, replaces parts as needed.
Electrical repairs and general maintenance.
Welding and fabrication.
Service and repair ABS systems.
Ability to diagnose using computer diagnostic equipment.
Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
Reports all maintenance issues and malfunctions.
Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns.
Follows safety regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Class A Commercial Driver's License and 2+ years of Tractor/Trailer driving experience.
Must be at least 21yrs. of age.
Dependable and safety conscious.
Excellent driving record.
Proven working experience as a mechanic working on semi-trucks and trailers.
You will need to have a variety of hands on skills
You will need to know how to safely operate and maintain your equipment
Experience in repair and maintenance of semi-trailers
Knowledge of air brakes and electrical systems on semi-trailers
Experience using hand and power tools
Own a basic tool set
Able to work in a shop environment
Able to lift 50 pounds
Reliable transportation
Attention to detail in all aspects of the job

Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with customers and colleagues.
Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
Master Heavy Duty Mechanic certification for the state of Michigan- Required.
