Position: Consumer Loan Officer I
Employment Status: Pay Grade 8 / Non-Exempt
Reports to: Branch Leader
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission, vision, and brand promise. Essential Duties

Loan Authority Limits: Secured $50K and Unsecured $10K

Provide high-level member service; address inquiries on loans, new accounts, and products

Review loan applications for accuracy and completeness
-
Calculate debt ratios; verify credit and financial documents
-
Identify opportunities for cross-selling products and services
-
Approve or refer loans based on policy
-
Deny loans when necessary and issue adverse action letters
-
Use Financial Coaching Certification when advising members
-
Prepare and verify loan documentation; secure all necessary signatures and documents
-
Obtain income and insurance documentation as applicable
-
Discuss, document, and administer payment options
-
Attain State of Michigan Credit Producers License within 6 months
-
Work schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM M–F, some Saturdays and after-hours for training/meetings

Obtain Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation within the first year
Duties and Responsibilities

Meet with members on loan applications and deposit products; guide on required documentation

Provide total payment quotes and educate members on Protection Solutions options

Effectively use Referral Sales Champion skills
-
Participate in credit union initiatives and meet assigned performance goals

Onboard new members and loans using JOY-focused process
-
Participate in monthly developmental coaching

Attend required educational functions

Maintain working knowledge of all State and Federal lending laws

Maintain FiCEP certification

Perform other duties as assigned

Stay current on federal and state credit union regulations

Willing to work overtime, attend off-site training and meetings as needed

Exercise tact and diplomacy in personal contact inside and outside the organization

Apply and maintain financial counseling concepts from FiCEP

Education and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent required

One to three years of similar or related experience

Working knowledge of loan processing and credit analysis

Ability to attain Michigan Credit Producers License within 6 months

Ability to attain CCUFC within first 6 months

Skilled in Microsoft 365 Suite
