We are currently seeking Part Time Responder Specialist to work at our Ann Arbor, MI Chapter.
Job Summary:Manages the FAST Program consistent with ARC policies to ensure life saving services are provided to the public at community events. This position and has program expansion goals and budgetary responsibilities, and exercises independent judgment in the management and execution of first aid and life saving medical services provided at public events in the First Aid Team Program. This includes planning event work, determining equipment necessary, monitoring work for regulatory compliance and providing for the safety and security of the employees, volunteers and clients. Due to the high degree of risk associated with the provision of this service, this position requires judgment and decision making abilities that help provide life saving response and balance the risks to the organization and employees/volunteers working in the program.This position ensures that FAST activities comply with all applicable State and local regulation and licenses and that necessary reports are submitted to regulatory authorities as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. Management and supervisory responsibility and accountability for paid staff, event volunteers and station leaders. This includes planning event work, determining equipment necessary, monitoring work for regulatory compliance and providing for the safety and security of the employees, volunteers and clients.2. Develop and implement approved budget ensuring unit operates within approved budget 3. Providing program direction to professionally licensed health care providers within scope of Red Cross programming.4. Recruit, train, retrain, discipline and terminate staff and volunteers who provide emergency care to ensure quality service delivery that meets regulatory requirements.5. Working with local Logistics specialists/coordinators, responsible for all event logistics, including equipment. 6. Successfully re-negotiate existing contracts to ensure services are provided within scope of practice and that necessary relationships with event management and local EMS are in place. 7. Ensure that hazardous or controlled materials are cared for and managed in a manner that meets general safety standards for the product (i.e. Oxygen, AEDs, medical devices used in administering First Aid)8. Facilitate accurate completion of patient records and monthly reports.9. It is the responsibility of all Red Cross staff members to recruit, train and work with volunteers and to treat all clients, volunteers, guests, and other employees in a courteous and respectful manner at all times while maintaining a cooperative atmosphere for everyone. It is expected that each member of the regional management team to work with a volunteer counterpart to ensure key volunteers are utilized and ensure depth within the function.10. Carries out any additional assignments required to fulfill the Mission of the American Red Cross.
Essential Functions/Physical Requirements:
Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.
