Position Overview:
As a Campus Assistant in Career Services, you'll be a key player in helping students, faculty, staff, and employer partners thrive. This exciting role offers opportunities to develop office management, event planning, and communication skills, all while working in a supportive, collaborative environment. Plus, we make it a priority to provide meaningful tasks related to your area of study when possible.
This role not only gives you valuable hands-on experience but also offers opportunities for advancement! If eligible, you could be promoted to a Lead Work Study/Campus Assistant, gaining additional leadership responsibilities and an hourly raise.
Location: Grand Rapids - Lettinga Campus
Pay Range: 12.48/hr (Pay offered based on qualifications, experience, and funding availability)
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide exceptional customer service to students, staff, faculty, and employers.
• Work closely with Career Coaches, Internship Managers, and department leadership to support career development activities.
• Assist in planning and organizing career fairs, networking events, employer training, and more.
• Schedule and confirm career coach appointments to keep students on track.
• Handle confidential student information with the highest integrity.
• Manage department email, generate reports, and track student post-graduate employment data.
• Assist with maintaining and promoting the department's social media presence.
• Assist with advertising Career Services events through tabling and call campaigns.
• Utilize project management software (Basecamp), student/employer platform (Handshake), Google Apps, and Excel.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate or 3 credit hours as a graduate student.
• Eligibility for federal work-study preferred (check with financial aid for more info).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to quickly learn new skills, software, and processes.
• A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Problem-solving skills and a willingness to ask questions.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to navigate a business office environment and perform occasional light lifting (up to 20 pounds).
