General Summary:
The Juvenile Diversion Caseworker/Compliance Coordinator is under the direct supervision of the Juvenile Officer. This worker will directly work with children and their families and other relevant individuals and is primarily responsible for the monitoring and enforcement of the plans for diversionary youth and their families. It is the responsibility of the Juvenile Diversion Caseworker/Compliance Coordinator to assist the Juvenile Officer in monitoring youth and maintain the compliance of Juvenile Justice Policies and procedures in Luce County.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Provide clerical assistance as may be requested by the Juvenile Officer (typing, filing, note taking, answering telephone, etc.).
2. Arranges for Community Service Work projects for appropriate youth involved in the Diversion Program.
3, Investigates referrals, clarifying juvenile and family weaknesses and strengths. Interviews all interested persons.
4. Maintains contact with school personnel. Gathers information, answers school-related questions, and consults on possible referrals.
5. Assists general public with youth-related questions. Speaks to community groups about juvenile issues, parenting skills, education, careers, relevant laws, Family Court services, mental health, suicide, and substance abuse related issues and services.
6. Consults with other service professionals, offering and receiving suggestions, advice and information on applicable laws and treatment techniques.
7. Provide face-to-face meetings with youth on a regular basis, including urine screens, monitoring homework, attendance, and overall behavior at home and in school.
8. Works cooperatively with the school system to ensure proper education is received. Have knowledge of school procedures, policy and special education regulations.
9. May assist with file destruction of Juvenile Records in accordance with the approved retention policy.

10. May assist county schools, as requested, in conflict resolution training and peer mediation programs.
11. Compiles and prepares data and statistics on Diversion and Prevention program.
Prepares reports on individual clients and programs as directed by Juvenile Court and other governmental authorities as needed.
12. Testifies in court about juveniles if necessary.
13. Stays current with professional journals, articles and books concerning youth issues, therapies, relevant laws, mental health and substance abuse.
14. Acts as back up support to Family Court personnel as needed.
15. On call 24 hours a day for emergency support.
16. Provides referrals and coordinates services with agencies deemed to be in the best interests of the youth and the community.
17. Assists in documentation requirements for the Child Care Fund.
