Summary
This individual will provide various enrollment services functions, including customer service for students, prospective students, and other staff members. This position requires basic customer service experience with the ability to multi-task in a busy work environment. The ideal candidate will be able to handle challenging situations in order to assist our customers in a professional and positive manner. This individual will be able to discern when a referral is needed to another staff member who is responsible for the area of expertise needed.
Qualifications
Required:
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum one year of office experience
• Customer Service experience
• Computer skills, including knowledge of and the ability to use the Internet, email, and calendaring software
Preferred:
• Post-secondary coursework in business-related field preferred
• Cashiering or accounting experience
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• General database experience
Essential Responsibilities
Front Desk Responsibilities
• Answer phone calls, assist walk-in customers, and respond to email inquiries through main office email
• Provide appropriate forms to students and assist with completion
• Receive forms from students (in person, mail, email and fax), review for completion, copy as needed, log in as received into Banner, and file in appropriate files for scanning and indexing
• Examine student records in Banner to answer inquiries and provide information to students and other authorized persons
• Take payments including tuition and fees, EES classes, housing related fees and deposits, flight fees, departmental deposits, etc.
• Provide parking tags
• Provide basic admissions and financial aid information to students, including but not limited to: status of their admission or aid application, coaching on forms, explanations of NMC and Federal policies, and how these policies apply to the particular student's situation
• Provide basic billing information to students, including but not limited to: status of their account, collection issues, 3rd party contracts, coaching on forms, basic explanations of NMC policies, and how these policies apply to the particular student's situation
• Provide basic records and registration assistance, including, but not limited to: assist with adds/drops and print schedules, distribute and accept basic forms, basic explanations of NMC policies, and how these policies apply to the particular student's situation
• Assist and train students to use NMC Self-Service and Federal websites to access information, handle transactions, and print documents
• Refer students and others to specialist staff and to other NMC departments and external agencies for in-depth questions or analysis
• Transfer calls, take messages, and set up appointments as needed
General Office Responsibilities
• Scan and index documents to student records.
• Make reminder calls to students
• Open, sort, and distribute mail
• Assemble packets for presentations, orientations, handouts, and mailings
• Assist with events, which may include orientation, graduation, and outreach events
• Provide administrative support
• Detailed data entry and processing in student database

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals (Federal Financial Aid Handbook). Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
