The Department of Philosophy at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, invites applications for the James B. and Grace J. Nelson Professorship in Philosophy, beginning August 25, 2026. This is a university year, tenure-track appointment and will be at the level of professor with tenure. For this endowed position, we are seeking an accomplished scholar of ethics, including normative ethics, metaethics, applied ethics and/or moral psychology. The successful candidate for this position must have a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service.
The normal teaching load for research-active faculty in LSA is four courses per academic year. Areas of teaching responsibility include introductory and upper-division undergraduate classes and graduate seminars.
