GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of Mental Health Supervisor (Preadmission Screening), provides phone and face to face mental health screening, assessment and crisis intervention service. Serves all target populations including adults with mental illness, children and youth with emotional disturbance and individuals with developmental disabilities and individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders. Completes intake paperwork over phone or in person and completes other documentation as required. Makes referrals to other agencies, hospitals, courts, etc. Provides consultation to law enforcement, probate court and emergency room nurses and doctors. Authorizes initial stay and monitors medical necessity for continuing stay. Works as a member of a multi-departmental group with Pre-Admission Screening, Care Management and State Facility and Forensic Intensive Case Management units with shared performance goals related to access, customer satisfaction and risk management. Works in host settings including emergency rooms and hospital medical floors.
Available for assignment to the schedule seven (7) days a week, 24 hours a day, including all holidays and weekends. This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support culturally competent recovery based practices; person centered planning as a shared decision making process with the individual, who defines his/her life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals; and a trauma informed culture of safety to aid consumer in the recovery process.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Master's degree in a mental health related field from an accredited school.
Valid Michigan Driver’s license with a good driving record.
License:
A limited licensed master’s social worker (LLMSW), licensed master’s social worker (LMSW), limited licensed professional counselor (LLPC), licensed professional counselor (LPC), limited licensed marriage and family therapist (LLMFT), licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), limited licensed psychologist (LLP) and licensed psychologist (LP). Must have or obtain a certification in substance abuse treatment specialist area.
A minimum of three (3) years working with individuals who suffer from a mental illness. Preference will be given to candidates whose experiences include developmental disabilities, substance abuse, and/or children/families.
