The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission, vision, and brand promise. You will do this by living out our core values in every service contact to both internal and external members. Essential Duties

Lead all community outreach, partnership, sponsorship, and volunteerism activities for M1 with a focus on M1’s Giving Pillars of Education, Housing, and Well-being.

In collaboration with the VP of Marketing, develop a public affairs strategy that strengthens our credit union’s reputation as a partner of choice using the levers of external communications, media, community engagement, philanthropic giving, and team engagement.

Through leadership, create a positive, empowering environment for team members to allow for goal success and professional development.

Develop a Community Impact team that has a passion for our members, communities and vision to “Create Thriving Communities”.

Be a visible presence in the community, actively representing the credit union to foster strong relationships and champion initiatives through M1’s Giving Pillars.

This is a hybrid position with the expectations of 3 days in the office.

Successfully obtain Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation through America's Credit Unions within first year of service with M1.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership
-
Supervise employees, conduct interviews, schedule and track hours, perform evaluations and disciplinary actions (submit to VP prior to HR).

Collaborate with the Culture & Employee Development team on Community Summit volunteering/giving events.

Manage tracking software, budget, and decisions on sponsorship requests.

Provide thought leadership on philanthropic impact and brand influence.
Community Outreach

Create strategic partnerships with nonprofits, schools, and businesses.

Coordinate and execute volunteer efforts and organized events.

Attend community functions (Chambers, Schools, Nonprofits, etc.).

Act as a liaison for branch Community Impact activities.

Seek leadership roles in community boards and committees.

Represent M1 in trade associations like the Michigan Credit Union League.
Public Relations & Communications

Work with Marketing to promote Community Impact events on social media.

Lead monthly Collab Call communications on events and initiatives.

Identify award opportunities and coordinate submissions (e.g., MCUL, ACU, Contact Magazine).
Measurement & Reporting

Analyze and report on KPIs related to engagement and outreach.

Provide quarterly Giving Pillar reports to executive leadership.

Maintain inventory of materials, donations, and event supplies.
Scholarship Program

Lead M1’s annual scholarship program and Swinging for Scholarships golf event.

Prepare post-event or training reports with insights and implementation ideas.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required

3–5 years of related experience in community event planning, program development, and engagement

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

Advanced computer skills, including graphic design, website management, and social media

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint
