About The Role
The Tool and Die Repair Technician for Plastic Injection Molding on the 3rd shift plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the efficiency of manufacturing operations. This position focuses on the repair and maintenance dies used in plastic injection molding processes to ensure consistent product quality and minimize downtime. The technician will work closely with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues promptly, supporting continuous manufacturing flow during the overnight shift. By applying expert knowledge of tool and die mechanics and plastic molding principles, the technician contributes to the optimization of manufacturing equipment and the reduction of scrap rates. Ultimately, this role follows PM programs to ensure that all tooling components are in optimal condition to meet production schedules and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in tool and die repair, specifically within plastic injection molding environments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to work independently during the 3rd shift with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or vocational training in tool and die making or maintenance.
- Experience with related machinery and precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of plastic materials and injection molding processes.
- Previous experience working in a 3rd shift manufacturing environment.
- Basic welding and machining skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency repairs on plastic injection molding tools and dies to maintain production continuity.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot tooling issues, including wear, damage, and alignment problems, to prevent defects and downtime.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to implement tooling modifications and improvements.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and tooling performance to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards while working with complex machinery and tooling components.
Shift
3rd shift - 10:40 pm - 7:00 a.m.
Overtime before or after shift as needed.
3rd Shift premium is $.80 per hour
