CNC Machining Team Leader - Nights

Average Starting Hourly Pay Range $26.00 - $45.00 (plus 16% Night Shift Premium) depending on experience

Overview:
As a night shift CNC Machine Team Leader for Merrill: A Keel Company, you will be responsible for organizing your department and shift and making personnel assignments to adequately meet departmental requirements and goals, and will utilize both CNC Machining knowledge and experience in conjunction with management and leadership skills to accomplish this.
Job Functions:
- Schedules work within department and reports status to plant manager.
- Assists with employee selection and adjustments.
- Reviews employee performance, administers work rules, and recommends compensation.
- Responsible for productivity, efficiency, and quality management to the extent that it falls within department control.
- Recommends equipment upgrades and process modifications, and may recommend product or service modifications.
- Maintains duties as direct labor performing "hands-on work" in the department as necessary and upon completion of daily leadership duties, as outlined for our CNC Machinists.
Job Functions for CNC Machinist:
- Performs advanced setup operations and adjusts machine tools to perform operations from provided programs.
- Adjusts and checks out programming.
- Operates CNC machine tools to perform complex series of progressive machining operations on a diverse line of work.
- Adjusts speeds and feeds during operation.
- Works from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread, and occasional profiling and contouring.
- Check parts for conformance to specifications.
- May run more than one unit simultaneously
Physical Demands: Some heavy lifting, no more than 50 lbs without mechanical assistance. Bending, stooping, and twisting are normal motions during operation.
Work Environment: Job shop manufacturing floor environment. As such, exposure to oil, dirt, debris, fumes moving machinery and equipment, and occasional high decibels are typical. Shop floor is climate controlled. PPE is required at all times.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- An associate’s degree in Machine Tool preferred, and/or a management degree or certification.
- Proven leadership background with above average communication, organizational, and motivational skills.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in related position in the machine tool industry.
- Job Shop or Prototype experience.
- Experience in machining for a very diverse industry base such as: Mining, Aviation, Defense, Rail, Shipbuilding, Heavy Equipment, Gas & Oil and Machine Building.
- Experience in machining large and complex work.
- Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
