
The Charter Township of Shelby Parks, Recreation, & Maintenance Department is now accepting applications for a Supplemental Maintenance Trainee. Interested applicants must be available to work approximately 30 hours a week, Monday - Friday between the hours of 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The hourly wage for this position is $23.83 per hour, with no benefits. Applicants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver's license to operate Township vehicles and equipment. A high school diploma or higher education is required. Some of the job duties associated with this classification would include, but would not be limited to:
- Assist full time employees with various projects and work orders, involving rough plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
- Assisting with the set-up and breakdown of equipment for events or meetings held at Township Facilities.
- Perform routine maintenance and janitorial duties for Township Facilities.
- Open parks, check/empty trash cans, check restrooms for cleanliness or problems, etc.
- Staining and Painting
- Seasonal Plowing of sidewalks and parks
- Prepping Sports Fields
- Assist with general landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, planting, mulching, weeding, irrigation maintenance, and seasonal cleanup to ensure exterior grounds are well-maintained
- Pick-up and delivery of parts and supplies
