The Charter Township of Shelby Supervisor's Office seeks an intern to work various hours Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, averaging around 20 hours per week, depending on the workload. The hourly rate of pay for this position is $15.25, no benefits. Qualified candidates must be enrolled in college to be considered for this position.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to adjust to fast-paced changes in deadlines and project demands while understanding the importance of customer service. Interns will primarily work in office, but may be given opportunities to attend meetings, tour facilities, and attend events for personal development.
Responsibilities:
- Greet guests and residents
- Answer phone calls and document resident concerns
- Direct residents to the correct department
- Help manage social media accounts and schedule posts
- Data-driven Research
- Create or update databases; assist with filing
- Assist with monitoring all forms of local and regional media
- Assist with mailings
- Special projects
- Take meeting notes or minutes as assigned
- Assist with internal communications and updates

Requirements are:
- Current college student
- Major in Political Science, Public Administration, Media and Politics, Community/Public Relations, Communication and Persuasion, Organizational Leadership, Criminal Justice or a related field
- Available Monday through Friday for various hours between 8:30am-5:00pm
