Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and valid teaching certificate required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
- Experience working within a multi-cultural and/or turnaround school district highly preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans a program of activities that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of preschool students with varying special needs (ECDC, ASD, OHI, SLI, EI)
- Schedules, attends, and conducts Individualized Education Program Team ("IEPT") meetings within required timelines
- Attends Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team ("MET")
- Analyzes performance data to provide targeted instruction based on individual student needs
- Develops and implements learning activities that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program, reflect accommodations based in the Individualized Education Program ("IEP") and show written evidence of preparation as required
- Coordinates with other special education service providers (speech, occupational therapy, psych, school social worker) for testing, planning, and servicing needs
- Monitoring Student Progress and Potential
- Conducts ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing, as determined by the student's IEP
- Strong classroom management and organization
- Understands preschool development and adapts the classroom environment to meet developmental delays
- Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly to students, parents, and staff
- Directs the work of classroom support staff to differentiate instruction and student growth
- Keeps informed of and complies with state and district policies for special education
- This is an in-person teaching position.
