Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the University print shop ensuring on-time delivery of professionally produced product, accurate pricing, timely billing and campus outreach resulting in customer satisfaction and favorable financial returns. Oversee campus-wide copier program. Manage relationships with outside print vendors.
Provide creative graphic design, oversight of student designers and quality control of other university design work while adhering to graphic standards and promoting the NMU brand.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Discipline/Degree Area: Graphic Art/Design, Printing, Business/Management or related
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:
Required Minimum Work Experience: Five years of professional experience in graphic design and/or experience working in an in-plant printing or related environment.
Overall knowledge of print shop operations such as: customer service, financials, graphics, prepress, press, digital, offset, copy, bindery, and mail.
Experience in print design and production.
Experience implementing a production schedule.
Experience outsourcing and purchasing printed materials and related items.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
Comprehensive background working with Mac and PC platforms.
Proficiency working with Adobe Creative Suite.
Proficiency working with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to create, edit and trouble shoot multiple file formats to prepare for printing process.
Proficiency working with Adobe Acrobat pdf and prepress functions.
Experience managing budgets and financial reporting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to work quickly to produce high-volume output.
Ability to manage and meet deadlines and production schedules for multiple, concurrent projects.
Attention to detail in order to facilitate a strong editing process that includes making numerous and intricate edits on design projects.
Ability to follow detailed financial procedures.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under time pressure.
