The Canton Health Center is an Ambulatory Care facility comprised of clinical services, dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adults and children. - Provide check in, checkout and general clerical support for the Canton Health Center.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patient and families by facilitating business processes that result in the management of efficient patient flow in a fast paced environment.
- Provide a range of guest services, including way finding and information within the facility.
- Additional responsibilities include: appointment scheduling.
- Process all patient payments (co-pays and outstanding balances) including: confirmation of patient charges, collection of payments, balancing of receipts and the reconciliation of cash collections.
- Navigate electronic medical record, maintain business work queues, and in basket management.
- Verify and update patient information, obtain referrals and/or authorizations.
- Respond to inquiries concerning department programs, services and activities.
- Provide general information to staff and patients
- High School diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated record of excellent attendance.
- Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team setting.
- Communicates effectively.
- Solid working knowledge of computers and navigating multiple computer applications
- Able to multi-task in a robust, fast paced environment
- Professional and Positive Interaction with Patients, Providers, and Staff
- Ability to work independently, identifying priorities while contributing as an active team member
- Basic Medical Terminology
- Existing MiChart or EHR experience
- Knowledge of UMHS policies and procedures
40 hours per week. Monday thru Friday including one evening shift weekly. 11:00 a.m. ? 7:30 p.m. and rotating Saturdays.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
