Summary: Oversee and manage the logistical and organizational performance-related needs for all Music, Theatre, and Dance (MTD) curricular performance activities including relevant admission, registration, and scholarship processes. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates from underrepresented groups, candidates who have interest and/or experience in working with diverse student and community populations, and candidates working in emerging fields that can contribute to diversifying the expertise in our department.
Required Qualifications and Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Music, Theatre, or Dance or a Bachelor's degree and experience in event management.
• Familiarity with activities in a University-level Performing Arts Department
• Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
• Experience working with underrepresented groups.
• Master's degree in Music, Theatre, or Dance, Non-Profit Administration, or event management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational abilities and strong detail-orientation
• Demonstrated ability to successfully maintain positive interpersonal relationships
• Demonstrated experience working successfully under pressure and meeting deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to organize own work and coordinate work activities for others
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands efficiently
• Ability to remain current with developments in office technology
Responsibilities - Essential Functions:
• Box Office: effectively and efficiently run GVSU's box office, assume responsibility for ticket sales and receipts, and ensure honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
• Manage front of house duties for all Main Stage and Black Box productions.
• Maintain Music student curricular performance records/programs for NASM accreditation purposes, and Dance and Theatre student curricular performance records/programs in preparation for future accreditation.
• Effectively and accurately create and produce performance programs for all MTD performance curricular activities as required for graduation audits, music recitals, and performances; maintain records of Dance Senior Shows activities and Theatre student-produced and directed culminating events.
• Manage the MTD scholarship process in coordination with GVSU Financial Aid, MTD applied faculty, and the MTD Unit Head.
• Manage the MTD admissions and registration process in coordination with the GVSU Office of Admissions, MTD applied faculty, and the MTD Unit Head.
• Schedule Music student performance curriculum-required Juries and Mid-Program Reviews (which serve as final exams for all applied performance curricula), including scheduling rooms, administering sign-up process, and filing required materials for student records and NASM accreditation purposes.
• Assisting in maintaining a Google-based MTD performance scheduling calendar, including facilitating annual scheduling meeting with faculty and staff.
• Maintain schedule for orientation/advising/special Music instrument recruitment days; MTD performance outreach projects; High School performance visits; and all Dance and Theatre special events.
Salary/Benefits: Minimum starting salary of $48,000.
