A global destination for artists and arts enthusiasts, Interlochen Center for the Arts nurtures creativity through five dynamic platforms: Interlochen Arts Camp, the renowned summer arts program; Interlochen Arts Academy, the nation’s premier fine arts boarding high school; Interlochen Presents, a producer of more than 600 annual performances by internationally celebrated guest artists, Interlochen students, and faculty; Interlochen Public Radio, two listener-supported, 24-hour public radio stations (classical music and news); and Interlochen College of Creative Arts, a convener for lifelong learning in the arts.
Position Summary: Interlochen Center for the Arts seeks an Academic Librarian to join the team of the Bonisteel Library, working with students, faculty, and staff for both the Interlochen Arts Academy and Interlochen Arts Camp. The Bonisteel Library strives to create an environment supporting learning, creativity, innovation, and knowledge/content creation. The Academic Librarian will develop meaningful relationships with faculty, staff, and students; assist patrons in finding and creating information; provide a collection and set of services that reflect and anticipate patron’s needs; and foster an atmosphere of welcome and support within the library. This position works from 8 am - 4:30 pm with flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
Essential Duties:
- Provide a high level of reference, research assistance, instruction and technical support to our users
- Employ best practices of teaching and learning for integrating information literacy
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, and students
- Participate in the development and maintenance of website content, tutorials, and other library aids
- Oversee the ILS and Ebsco Discovery
- Oversee cataloging and processing of materials
- Manage Interlibrary Services, Michigan e-library electronic resource management, online collections, and digital services projects
- Recommend and provide support implementing new and emerging technologies and processes
- Supervise high school community service students
- Collaborate with other library staff on the selection of materials for the library
- Assist in the collection of data and preparation of reports
- Participate in school-wide committee work when applicable
- Seek the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
- Comply with ICA policies/procedures and act as a good steward of ICA finances
- Respect the culture, diversity and rights of all students, their families and the community
- Prioritize duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth
- Perform other duties as assigned
Work environment:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office and library environment with extensive internal and external stakeholder contact.
