Duties and Responsibilities:

Implement instructional activities that engage students in meaningful learning

Modify instructional resources to meet varied needs

Teach District-approved curriculum

Assist in assessing curriculum needs and suggest improvements

Maintain accurate records

Foster a positive classroom environment for student engagement

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and professionals

Assist with toileting needs

Effectively direct classroom aides

Conduct home visits as needed

Perform developmental screenings and assessments

Write goals, objectives, IEPs, and IFSPs

Schedule IEP/IFSP meetings with appropriate personnel

Perform other duties as assigned

Plan individual and group activities to develop language, motor, and social skills

Develop and use materials appropriate for students with a wide range of abilities

Provide individual and group instruction to address communication, self-help, and physical skills
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
-
State of Michigan teacher certificate required
-
Must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate with at least one special education endorsement and a major or minor in early childhood education or child development

Knowledge of preschool special education curriculum and philosophy
-
Understanding of instructional principles, assessment procedures, and behavioral plans
-
Effective communication and collaboration skills
-
Ability to work independently and lead support staff

Strong interaction with parents
-
Familiarity with state standards and assessment tools
