Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Schedule and coordinate IEP, MET, and Manifestation Determination meetings
-
Maintain accurate records, including B-worksheets and discipline/special ed documentation
-
Advise on impact of disabilities on discipline
-
Keep binder of IEPs and discipline forms available for review
-
Provide progress updates to parents concurrent with general education reports
-
Prepare IEP documents and develop goals and objectives
-
Chair IEP meetings for caseload students
-
Plan and implement instruction for assigned students
-
Deliver direct instruction per IEP requirements
-
Support general education staff in accommodations and supplemental needs
-
Provide curriculum-based supplemental instruction
-
Maintain and document student service schedules
-
Assist in scheduling coursework for special education students
-
Collaborate with MET team for evaluations and placements
-
Align instructional strategies with district strategic plan
-
Maintain active communication with staff and families
-
Stay current with special education laws and practices
-
Notify special education office of address-related student changes
-
Send paperwork to records office within 10 days of meeting
-
Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution
-
Must meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state
-
Valid single-subject credential or endorsement if required
-
State certification and required endorsements for subject/area
-
Relevant teaching experience
