General Motors seeks a Throughput Simulation Engineer in Warren, MI.
Duties: Conduct simulations of vehicle production systems throughout various phases of new vehicle programs to assess and improve throughput. Use CDraw2 and Plant Simulation Software to model both dimensional and non-dimensional scenarios that accurately reflect real-world production processes and equipment. Ensure consistency, reliability, and accuracy in simulation results. Interpret the data to propose solutions aimed at improving machine efficiency, equipment functionality, and overall operational performance. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Material Integration, Conveyor Engineers, Plant Floor System, Layout Integrators, and technical Subject Matter Experts. Focus on design optimization, ensuring new and existing manufacturing systems are both efficient and scalable. Compare simulation models with plant layouts to ensure accuracy. Identify critical elements for each manufacturing process (e.g., number of pallets, carriers, buffers) and select appropriate modeling approaches (e.g., dimensional vs. non-dimensional, animated vs. static). Provide clear, detailed reports and simulations for vehicle programs. This includes experimenting with variables, generating standard reports, and documenting lessons learned. Support plants in identifying bottlenecks in production and collaborate to develop innovative solutions to overcome those bottlenecks. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert, provide mentoring and training to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in throughput and material flow simulation modeling. Collect, maintain, update, and validate the performance data set for GA. Oversee the migration of legacy simulation models into Plant Simulation software. This will involve programming and developing customized library objects to expedite model creation and updating. Drive the Digital Twin vision in GM Path to Virtual to an integrated simulation of processes and material flow in a dynamic modeling to enable model validation and connectivity in real time. 15% travel required. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.
