Summary
MTRI (www.mtri.org) is seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious professional interested in conducting cutting-edge research related to the physics of remote sensing and imaging. This position is for an entry level research engineer who is interested in supporting ongoing research projects for government and commercial customers. An ideal candidate will have experience in developing and implementing RF signal processing algorithms on edge processors including RF System-on-a-Chip (RFSoC) devices with applications in radar and/or signal intelligence.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
1. Participate as an integral team member on multi-disciplinary research relating to applying technical skills to solve governmental and societal needs.
2. Provide technical, analytical, and numerical support for ongoing research and development projects related to the physics of remote sensing and imaging.
3. Design, implement, and evaluate signal processing algorithms for RF systems with emphasis on edge processors.
4. Contribute technical expertise to symposia, journal articles, and technical reports.
5. Prepare and deliver reports or presentations of research projects/analysis results to project sponsors as appropriate.
6. Contribute to the generation of proposals and external funding.
7. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
B.S. in electrical engineering, or a similar related field.
Required Experience
* Experience with developing signal processing algorithms for embedded systems starting from prototyping languages including Matlab and Python
* Experience with Matlab/Simulink for embedded systems
* Experience with Matlab HDL Coder
* Experience with RFSoC devices
Desirable Education and/or Experience
* Experience with Vivado (Xilinx) for HDL development
* Familiarity with phased array radar hardware
* Familiarity with basic processing algorithms for signal intelligence gathering
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
* Ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance, which requires United States citizenship
* Excellent interpersonal, oral/written, and presentation communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to participate in team projects
* Ability to take direction but work without continuous oversight.
* Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment with respect to significant matters related to job duties.
