Description

This position involves teaching a range of math courses primarily in a face-to-face setting, and possibly online. Assignments will be mainly at the Huron Area Tech Center in Bad Axe, MI, and/or the Tuscola Tech Center in Caro, MI, with primarily daytime courses. The maximum teaching load of 29 credit hours will generally be taught during the fall/winter semesters. This position will be largely dependent upon enrollment.
Examples of Duties
- Teaches assigned classroom courses.
- Completes and updates syllabi for courses assigned and ensures course content and requirements meet the requirements of the college and accreditation agencies.
- Completes appropriate assessment tools to determine course effectiveness and ensure that student outcomes are achieved.
- Consistently assess learning outcomes and assist in developing strategies for quality improvement.
- Assesses student academic achievement and provides students with timely and meaningful feedback on progress in the course(s).
- Maintains and reports appropriate classroom records, including student attendance and grades, meeting secondary and postsecondary timelines and due dates for these tasks.
- Holds appropriate office hours for meeting with and assisting students.
- Works collaboratively with the Criminal Justice Coordinator, Library and Learning Services, Registrar, and Retention Services to foster student success.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide; serves on college committees as encouraged/assigned.
- Adheres to the policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college. Ensures all communications and practices demonstrate support of the Ethics for Teaching Professionals.
- Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, values, strategic, and service initiatives. Adheres to the organization’s policies & procedures and compliance guidelines.
- Maintains regular communication with the Intermediate School District Career Education Staff.
- Attends and participates in all monthly Intermediate School District Instructor meetings, attending to all tasks and topics discussed at each meeting in a timely manner.
- Assists in the planning of and participates in all Intermediate School District events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licensure:
- Master’s Degree In mathmatics or statistics required.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years in a community college preferred.

- Ability to develop and effectively deliver course content/objectives and facilitate an effective learning environment for students to maximize their success.
- Knowledge of computers and educational technology, and the ability to effectively integrate technology into the classroom.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a close, collaborative manner with other faculty and administration.
