Accounting Assistant

TRICO Opportunities, Inc. is looking for an Accounting Assistant who can perform most day-to-day activities associated with small business operation. The Accounting Assistant also assists the Executive Director as needed with financial procedures and supports staff with program related needs. The primary responsibilities include:

• Processing transactions in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and receipt of cash/checks.
• General filing of correspondence/documents related to agency business.
• Assisting with data entry.
• Setting up Program Participant files.
• Assisting with annual audit.
• Preparing/mailing monthly Board packets.
• Submitting new hire information to State of Michigan.
• Logging and tracking sick and vacation time.
• Maintaining internal control procedures as instructed by the auditor.
• Calculating and paying monthly state sales tax.
• Submitting the M.E.S.C. Quarterly Wage detail report.
• Maintaining/updating master calendar.
• Ordering of office and janitorial supplies.
• Submitting job postings to websites, and distributes applications.
• Completing requests for information from outside agencies.
• Processing daily mail.
• Facilitating record storage and destruction.
• Maintaining fund drive listing and deposits.
• Answering phone and greeting visitors.
• Assisting in triennial CARF Survey.

Requirements

• Three years’ experience in accounting/office work.
• Good computer skills with knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong math skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good team work skills.
