Position Title: Early Childhood Caregiver
Location(s): Auburn / Webster / Forest / Kolb / Mackensen
Position Type: Day Care Program / Caregiver
Rate of Pay: $12.48 per hour
Schedule: Variable shifts between 6:15 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., as needed
Purpose of the Position
To successfully provide children with a nurturing, safe, and healthy environment while supporting the Early Childhood Educator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledgeable in the Developmental Milestones for the assigned classroom (birth to 4 years).

Communicate with parents regarding child development.

Follow weekly lesson plans including sensory, music, art, science, math, small and large motor activities that stimulate all areas of development.

Assist in ensuring the best interests of all children are met.

Follow Bay City Public Schools Early Childhood Centers Employee Handbook and Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers.

Implement and uphold Program Guide, Health Policies and Procedures.

Hold current Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.

Follow OSHA procedures for blood-borne pathogens.
-
Participate in required continuing education and staff meetings.

Practice emergency procedures routinely.

Arrive to work on time, organized, and ready to meet children's needs.

Maintain child-friendly, respectful communication and professional attitudes.

Contribute to team responsibilities.
-
Interact positively with children at their level.
-
Greet parents, children, visitors, and staff warmly.

Maintain open communication with parents to foster mutual understanding.

Share ideas and accept suggestions to enhance the program.

Praise children for accomplishments to build competence.

Respect children’s curiosity while guiding gentle interactions.

Send daily notes home in infant, wobbler, and toddler classrooms.

Model language through communication, singing, and reading books.

Encourage brain development through sensory and interactive experiences.

Recognize each child's unique developmental needs.

Maintain overall classroom awareness and safety.

Follow group instruction plans and assist with room cleanliness.

Record daily care activities for children under one year.
-
Sanitize toys and follow safe sleep procedures.
-
Clean and sanitize high chairs and meal areas using the three-step cleaning process.

Enjoy working with children.
Dimensions of Position
Assist the Early Childhood Educator in supervising children and classroom personnel under the guidance of the Center Administrator.
Qualification Requirements

Meet minimum State of Michigan licensing requirements for Lead Caregiver.

Must be at least 18 years of age.
-
Hold a high school diploma or GED.
-
Be of responsible character and suitable to meet children's needs.

Have a current physical exam and TB test.
-
Possess a genuine love for working with children.
