Hours: Monday–Friday, between 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM

Position Overview:
As a Child Care Assistant, you will work directly under a licensed childcare provider in a home-based setting. You’ll support children’s daily routines, assist with educational and play-based activities, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment. This is a full-cycle assistant role, which means you’ll be involved in all aspects of caregiving, learning, hygiene, and supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily care routines, including feeding, changing, and rest periods
- Support age-appropriate learning and play activities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized childcare environment
- Observe and document developmental milestones and behavior
- Collaborate with the lead provider on planning and communication with families
- Ensure all care practices align with Michigan state regulations and licensing standards
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check (required under Michigan Child Care Licensing Rules to work with minors in licensed home-based care)
- Must submit a resume that includes prior work experience, education, or both
- Must demonstrate responsibility, patience, and a genuine love for children
- Willingness to be trained on child development, safety protocols, and licensing procedures
Michigan Licensing Compliance Notice:
In accordance with Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) regulations, all individuals working in a home-based childcare setting must operate under the supervision of a licensed provider and pass required clearances including a Central Registry Clearance, FBI fingerprinting, and a criminal history check. Compliance with Wayne County and state standards is mandatory.
