Term: Regular 2024–2025 School Year (August–June)
Rate of Pay: $23.22 per hour

General Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing health care services and implementing health programs for students with medical needs, under the delegation and supervision of the School Nursing Administrator. The LPN assists in delivering school-based medical care to ensure students can access a positive and safe educational environment. Duties align with student IEPs and individualized health plans.
Essential Job Responsibilities

Report to the School Nursing Administrator for assignments.

Provide student-specific health services as delegated/assigned.

Maintain and update medical records per Michigan Department of Health and program guidelines.

Receive student-specific training for health-related services.

Administer medications as directed; serve as backup when the School Nurse is unavailable.

Assist in the development and delivery of student health-related training programs.

Attend clinical meetings as assigned.

Support school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards.

Communicate with parents/guardians and staff regarding student health needs, as directed.

Support behavior management planning and implementation alongside school staff.

Perform other duties as assigned by the School Nursing Administrator or Building Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Valid State of Michigan LPN license required.

Valid medication administration card (per NAPNES guidelines).

Current CPR and First Aid certification required.

Experience in pediatric care or working with individuals with physical, mental, or chronic health conditions preferred.

Skilled in technical procedures including tracheotomies, suctioning, catheterization, tube feeding, etc.

Ability to follow supervision and direction.

Physical stamina required to lift/move special education students (ages 0–26) and implement physical tasks tied to student care.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to collaborate with diverse students, staff, parents, and community members.

Sound judgment and decision-making in accordance with SISD policies.

Must maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Experience in a Total Quality Management environment is desirable.
