JOB SUMMARY

The bilingual teacher is responsible for ensuring that every student is academically and socially ready for college or career and to equip all students with knowledge, skills, and motivation that empowers them to direct their lives and become confident, critical thinkers who will contribute to a changing global community. This is accomplished by providing a variety of learning experiences in partnership with the community to meet each student's needs as defined by his or her educational plan. This position reports directly to the assigned building/program principal.

• Provide students with effective instruction in the various academic areas.
• Provide students with effective instruction/modeling/interventions in the various behavioral areas.
• Teach the required curriculum and administer common assessments.
• Plan and provide appropriate educational supplemental activities to meet both group and individual needs of all children within the classroom.
• Establish a harmonious classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning and enhances student self-esteem.
• Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
• Establish and maintain effective written and oral communication and rapport with students, parents and colleagues.

• Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in positive, supportive and cooperative ways.
• Make and maintain regular, positive contact with parents via phone calls, email and/or home visits. 

• Design and deliver high quality Close and Critical reading strategies aligned to the curriculum in each content area.
• Use the instructional learning cycle to inform future planning.
• Deliver lessons with attention to building skills to produce independent thinkers/problem solvers across the curriculum.
• Communicate progress with parents and students.
• Engage, encourage, motivate, and captivate students and parents.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Collaborate with special education staff to provide students with individualized education programs (IEPs) appropriate accommodations and supplementary aids.
• Participate in professional development and implement with fidelity the strategies learned.
• Incorporate highly effective teaching practices from the Danielson Rubric into daily practice.
• Incorporate the Tripod 7 Cs (challenge, control, consolidate, confer, captivate, clarify and care) into daily practice.
• Establish a culture of learning through press for effort, perseverance, and rigor.

• Develop detailed, accurate and concise lesson plans for each subject area.
• Effectively maintain and monitor on-going student progress.
• Establish and maintain accurate record keeping documentation on individual children.
• Provide and maintain a positive relationship with students, parents, staff, and community.
• Establish and maintain a physical classroom setting that is conducive to learning.
• Utilize instructional materials and strategies effectively to increase student learning and to prepare students to make sound decisions and become productive citizens.

• Utilize “best” classroom management practices to create a learning environment that is conducive to learning, curtails disruptive behaviors and enhances students’ self-esteem.

• Contribute as a team member in the decision-making processes of the school as facilitated by the building administrator.
• Participate and support students in extracurricular activities such as clubs and academic competitions. 
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Maintain and promote assigned individual building goals and objectives.
• Maintain and promote school district goals and objectives.
• Participate in parent meetings, including IEP’s and Parent/Teacher Conferences.
• Comply with District policies, procedures, and rules.
• Regular and on-time attendance is required. Other duties as assigned.
