Description

This position assists with the management and maintenance of the college’s IT computer systems, including administrative applications, databases, authentication systems, servers, and the planning and coordination of upgrades and software support for these systems. The position assists with implementing, maintaining, and integrating the college’s computer systems. This position works closely with the Director of IT and the Applications Director in managing the college’s computer systems.
Examples of Duties
- Assists with monitoring, maintenance, and documentation of software systems and college servers along with safeguarding system stability and operation.
- Assists with system backups and continuous revisions to disaster recovery processes.
- Works with end users to fully understand their business processes and reporting needs; design or build solutions to meet those needs.
- Recommends and implements industry best practices for the use and security of the college’s applications, databases, and cloud integrations.
- Collaborates on the development, programming, and maintenance of systems integrations, SSO connections, and assists in the creation and management of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data exchanges as required by the college.
- Manage user account permission access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborates with the technology team on the management and documentation of server networks, firewall, switches, certificates, and DNS Management.
- Evaluates use of college systems for efficiency gains and provides recommendations for improvements to the technology teams.
- Provides updates to the technology team on system issues, reviewing and cataloging related system logs.
- Troubleshoot computer system problems, properly document them, report them to the relevant department(s), and assist with support calls to resolve such issues.
- Ensures that software systems are being used in support of the college’s goals and objectives and that end users are adhering to proper use standards.
- Leads maintenance planning, patches, processes or upgrades of college technology systems
- Exhibits a high level of customer service with professionalism.
- Participates in tactical and strategic planning with the technology team and assists in the development and implementation of technology departmental objectives, policies, procedures and standards; recommends changes to technology departmental procedures as necessary to improve efficiencies
- Participates in department and/or college-wide meetings as required/requested.
- Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization’s policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licensure:
- An associate’s degree in a technology-related field from an accredited institution OR a high school diploma or equivalent along with 3-4 years of technology related experience required.
Experience:
- 3-4 years of experience in a tech-related field preferred.
- Experience to include:
- Script programming
- Supporting computer networks
- Maintaining virtual machine servers
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Servers preferred
- Experience with programming preferred
Supplemental Information
- Knowledge of computer networking, software licensing, servers, and hardware/software installation and maintenance
- Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell and/or a web programming language like JavaScript.
- Knowledge or the ability to learn the creation and management of systems integrations using API’s, and SQL scripting for database management and backups
- Ability to analyze, evaluate, and troubleshoot business processes to create information systems solutions
- Ability to communicate with all stakeholders
- Ability to effectively adapt to shifts in priorities in project planning between short- and long-term goals
