The Director of Early Childhood and Teacher Education Program will oversee and enhance our education programs. This role will manage applied associate degrees and transfer degrees in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, as well as specialized programs including an Accelerated Teacher Credentialing Program and a Special Education Teacher Preparation Program. The Director will ensure program quality, compliance with accreditation standards, and alignment with workforce needs, while fostering partnerships with local schools and community organizations.
Examples of Duties
- Oversee curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation for: Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and Associate of Arts (AA) degrees in Early Childhood Education; Associate of Arts in Elementary Education (transfer pathway); Accelerated Teacher Credentialing Program for expedited licensure; Special Education Teacher Preparation Program.
- Ensure programs meet state and national standards, including NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) requirements.
- Develop and update program materials, including course syllabi, student handbooks, and advising guides.
- Monitor program outcomes, including graduation rates, and job placement.
- Advise students on academic and career pathways in education.
- Coordinate student placements for practicums and internships with local schools and childcare centers.
- Support students in navigating licensure requirements, including state exams and credentialing processes.
- Provide resources and guidance for students pursuing transfer to four-year institutions.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty to stay current with best practices in education.
- Coordinate scheduling of courses and faculty assignments to meet program needs.
- Build and maintain relationships with local school districts, and childcare centers to support program goals.
- Collaborate with state education agencies to align programs with teacher certification requirements.
- Represent the college at community events, education conferences, and advisory boards.
- Oversee the Accelerated Teacher Credentialing Program, ensuring streamlined pathways for non-traditional students and career changers to obtain teaching licenses.
- Prepare and manage program budgets, including grant applications and funding opportunities.
- Collect and analyze data for program assessment and accreditation reports.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies, including Title IX and FERPA.
- Serve on college committees related to academic affairs and workforce development.
- Serve as faculty liaison for concurrent enrollment instructors.
- Per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), a federal consumer protection law, your job position entails functions that meet the definition of a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs have a duty to report any crime to the College’s Clery Compliance Officer. This information may be disclosed to them directly, through third-party, or witnessed. As a CSA, you are required to complete annual training which is provided by the College. This training encompasses your role, responsibilities, and reporting obligations.

Typical Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licensure:
- Master’s Degree in Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Pre-Primary Impaired Special Education, or a closely related field required
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in education program administration, teaching, or a related role required.
- Experience working in a community college setting preferred
- Grant writing experience or familiarity with education funding opportunities preferred
- Established connections with local education stakeholders, such as school districts or childcare networks preferred
