What you can expect to work on…
The Senior Database Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and governing Niowave’s enterprise data architecture to ensure it meets current and future business needs.
- Stabilize and optimize existing data pipelines and architecture.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance performance of existing data systems to ensure uninterrupted delivery of high-quality data to stakeholders.
- Lead the migration and optimization of enterprise data platforms.
- Design and build scalable, secure, and resilient data pipelines that make data flow smoothly from source to insight.
- Develop, implement, and manage enterprise data governance and monitoring frameworks.
- Partner with multiple teams across the business to turn raw data into meaningful stories and actionable insights.
- Lead the charge on ETL processes (designing, managing, tuning, and monitoring) to keep our data accurate and up to date.
- Serve as a strategic partner and Subject Matter expert when collaborating with engineering, analytics, and business teams to ensure data systems are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business priorities—particularly during infrastructure enhancements, migrations, and upgrades.
What you need to succeed…
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strong mathematical skills to collect, measure, organize, and analyze data.
- 8+ years’ experience with programming languages and visualization software such as SQL, InduSoft/Avera Insight, Python, and CSV/TDMS, Oracle, R, MATLAB, Power Bi, Tableau.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data architecture, or similar role; including experience in data administration, application development, data integration, modeling & management
- Experience with relational, big data, conceptual and logical data modeling.
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Expertly performs in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – you know how to develop & maintain strong relationships with all levels/teams of the organization.
- Understand how to integrate into a new team/organization – appreciate the history of current state, know how and when to make suggestions, as well as using just the right pace to reach the improved future state.
- Understand your own communication and learning styles, assess others styles, and are able to find the right path to connect the two.
