Job Summary
Assist Pressman to prepare, operate, and adjust printing press to maintain required quality and quantity of production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists pressman in operation and maintenance of press.
- Obtain a working knowledge of printing process, printing machines, and press crew operations.
- Issue paper to keep inventory correct.
- Operates and performs general preventative maintenance on printing presses.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department manager.
- Maintains production, quality standards and reports as determined by operators, supervisors, and upper management.
- Daily input in the Information System the proper issue of paper for each job.
- Daily clock in and out of jobs.
- Complies with all safety regulations and work rules.
- Performs general housekeeping in working area.
- Performs other duties as required/assigned by lead, supervisor and/or manager.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in printing manufacturing
- Maintain a working pace equal to the output of machines.
- Follow explicit orders and job specifications.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, workplace and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables.
- Basic math skills, add subtract, and ability to use a measuring device.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and team-player, strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must demonstrate increasing understanding of the printing process, printing machines, and press crew responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 70 pounds and/or move 100 plus pounds.
- Constantly be able to work in the work activities
- Occasionally be able to do the listed activities
Base Schedule is Monday to Friday and may include Saturday overtime
- 1st shift: 7 AM-3 PM
- 2nd shift: 3 PM-11 PM
- 3rd shift: 11 PM-7 AM
- Overtime pays time and a half after 40 hours per week
- Shift premiums: 2nd shift-5% and 3rd shift-7%
