SUMMARY:\n\nThis position works directly for the Chief Claims Officer. This role works with the claim executive team in developing business strategies, objectives, and systems strategies. This position leads the Claim strategic project portfolio for workers' comp, property & casualty, medical management strategies, and supporting initiatives. \n\nThe manager directs and oversees the entire claim project portfolio. Duties include project prioritization, budgeting, reporting, problem solving, risk and issues management, communications, vendor management, and implementation. This position works collaboratively across the enterprise for strategic alignment with business partners, funding, allocations, and prioritization of initiatives. Responsibilities include enterprise communications/presentations, resource planning, problem solving, risk and issue management and reporting. Consults with executive sponsors and project leads on the status of initiatives in progress. \n\nThe manager directly manages a team of strategy and project professionals. As the company grows and diversifies, the scope of the Claims portfolio will evolve and this manager will need to support that strategic growth. As part of Corporate Claims leadership, this position participates in developing, measuring, and monitoring departmental goals and objectives. Participates in the annual departmental budget process, identify cost savings, monitor budget and identify budget variances. Research budget issues and makes appropriate recommendations. As requested by the Chief Claim Officer, this role performs additional tasks and projects.\n\nRESPONSIBLITIES/TASKS:\n\n \n * This position works in partnership with the Corporate Claims Chief Claims Officer as a member of the Corporate Claims leadership team \n * Work with executive team to direct strategic planning activities for the operating unit and align requirements of the Enterprise \n * Leads the Claim Center of Excellence (CoE) Program which includes multi-year strategic project portfolios for workers' comp, property & casualty, and medical management strategies \n * Monitors, oversees, and directly manages, with accountability for implementing and deploying, division strategic projects and initiatives and the attainment of desired objectives and outcomes. \n * Consult with executive sponsors and project leads on the status of initiatives in progress. \n * Develops and tracks the business plan including budgeting, reporting, problem solving, risk and issues management, communications, vendor management, and implementation. \n * Responsibilities include enterprise communications, resource planning, problem solving, risk and issue management, reporting, and vendor management for Claims \n * Facilitates and participates in development of strategic goals, objectives, benefits realization, and roadmap development \n * Provide leadership in executing strategic and annual plan items. \n * Analyze business issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions to achieve key results. \n * Leads cross-department strategic alignment, resource estimates, allocations and prioritization of business initiatives. \n * Coordinate and research special projects and assignments, as assigned.\nThis position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.\n\nEMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nEDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:\n\nBachelor's degree in insurance, business, information systems, or related field. Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.\n\nEXPERIENCE:\n\nTen years of insurance related experience with tangential connection to matters of claims. Management experience preferred. Requires a high level of competency and skills in analysis (financial, cost/benefit, corporate administration, and IT related). Requires project management experience and demonstrated success in working with cross-functional teams, and account/relationship management experience. \n\nSKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:\n\n \n * Demonstrated capabilities with planning, communications, change management, and strategy is required \n * Strong strategic planning, program development and project management skills. Ability to think ahead and plan over a 3 to 5-year span. \n * Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills and senior level skills in managing ambiguous and time sensitive situations and issues. \n * Knowledge of project management principles and practices, including planning and coordination, with the ability to complete large projects involving multiple resources. Ability to establish workflows, manages multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines. \n * Knowledge of insurance and claims environment. \n * Excellent oral and written communications, as well as presentation skills. \n * Ability to work across all levels of employees and transition quickly from group-to-group. Leaves a positive impression of the department by demonstrating collaborative working behaviors and leadership traits. \n * Ability to appropriately manage resources, budgets, issues, and risks for the successful completion of projects. \n * Knowledge and understanding of computer systems, software, and Internet fundamentals. \n * Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to successfully function in a team environment. \n * Ability to understand business needs and conceptualize and implement initiatives that support those business strategies. \n * Ability to effectively exchange information clearly and concisely, and present ideas, reports facts and other information, and respond to questions as appropriate. \n * Ability to establish rapport and maintain customer satisfaction without compromising priorities. \n * Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion. \n * Ability to maintain confidentiality. \n * Excellent oral and written communication skills.\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nWork is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Travel may be required.
