Position Summary
The Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship Program Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship programming across the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) communities. This role will report to the VP of STEAM, Financial Literacy, & Entrepreneurship to help develop Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship programs from start to implementation, including management of event logistics and evaluation of each program.
The Program Specialist will manage new and existing programs, while working within the scope and sequence of the department's yearly plan. This role is essential to helping close the gap in the field of Financial Literacy and provide opportunities and resources for girls to become leaders in the field. They will work on both short-term and long-term goals that fit within the strategic plan of the department, as well as the Council's overall goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside Vice President of STEAM, Financial Literacy, & Entrepreneurship to adhere to budgeting needs, provide a program strategy, meet objectives, and manage partnerships effectively.
- Research, coordinate and manage all programming, including serving as a facilitator for some workshops.
- Serve as a project manager including tracking all tasks, ensuring all deadlines are met, connecting with appropriate partners and vendors, securing venues, procuring all necessary items, developing an evaluation plan for each program, and planning appropriate meetings with stakeholders.
- Work with partners and vendors to provide impactful and relevant Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship programming throughout all GSSEM communities.
- Develop agendas for internal and external meetings.
- Draft sensitive and high-priority emails, documents, and other correspondence.
- Work with the marketing and communications team to plan campaign strategies for all Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship events.
- Serve as key point of contact for partners and other stakeholders.
- Help manage the event plan, timeline, and action items with the Project Manager of Programs and Events.
- Monitor the program budget and work with the Fund Development team on securing grant funding for programs.
- Provide timely feedback on project plans when needed.
- Arrange all event services such as food, transportation, etc. when needed.
- Develop strong relationships with all partners.
- Prepare and submit reports in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor's Degree with concentration in a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years project/program management.
- Minimum of two (2) years working directly with vendors, external partners and/or volunteers.

- This position requires registration as a member of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
- Demonstrated skills in creative thinking, problem solving and innovation.
- Demonstrated skills in administration and budgeting.
- Ability to provide training and put together comprehensive PowerPoints, etc.
- Experience supporting leadership/management team.
- Proven track record in developing relationships with staff, volunteers, and community organizations.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with other departments to meet mutual goals.
- Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional computer programs.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend hours.
