Job Description SUMMARY: The Assistant General Counsel (Employment) is primarily responsible for: (a) handling pending and threaten employment litigation, disputes, EEOC charges, etc.; (b) advising on employment legal matters; and (c) providing advice with respect to employment law policies and investigations. The Assistant General Counsel (Employment) has a strong corporate employment litigation and advisory background. LITIGATION * Oversee and direct all external employment-related litigation, arbitrations and similar contentious proceedings, including conducting early case assessments and developing litigation goals as needed, oversee and select external counsel, advise on settlement strategies and assist with appropriate ASC 450 reserve setting activities ADVISE * Provide employment law advice regarding daily activities, reductions in force (RIFs), policies, etc. * Conduct and oversee internal employment-related investigations as needed * Advise regarding employment related policies Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Juris Doctor degree AND * 10+ years of relevant private practice and in-house experience * Must be a licensed attorney from an accredited law school with good credentials and stable work history Certificates and Licenses: Active State Bar License OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Good interpersonal, leadership, negotiating, and consulting abilities * Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with attention to detail * Ability to manage fast-paced workload and add value to multiple projects simultaneously * Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills * Excellent ability to work cross-functionally to establish effective solutions efficiently and amiably * Business acumen * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and shows project ownership * Commitment to an "above and beyond" level of service at all times. * Analyze complex transactions on a timely basis and memorialize necessary business and legal terms in well-developed agreements * Demonstrated ability to creatively resolve complex legal issues in a manner that fosters business interests and advances company goals * Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Web proficiency * Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills * Ability to travel 15% of the time * Ability to pass required background check Desired Qualifications: * Two or more years' prior experience in public company securities law representing clients on either NASDAQ or the NYSE * Familiarity with a wide variety of transaction types (e.g., private company, public company, stock purchase, asset purchase, cross-border, minority investments, joint ventures, etc.) and ability to conduct due diligence on such transaction WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. We anticipate the salary range to be $145,653.75-233,046.00. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
