Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or on-call position. Provides food service, custodial, general labor or maintenance support for departments located off-campus (outside of the Greater Lansing area) Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The Bioeconomy Institute Holland facility partners with for-profit and non-profit organizations to accelerate specialty and biobased chemicals to commercialization. The Holland sites boasts a premier pilot plant facility with over 30,000 liters of capacity including reactors, stills, and storage vessels. This Temporary On-Call position offers on-site work. The successful candidate will monitor, maintain, and optimize manufacturing equipment such that the site can execute its mission safely and efficiently.
The Maintenance Mechanic ensures operation of site machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance tasks and troubleshooting and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate must have a Journeyman Millwright Card; at least 5 years’ experience working as a mechanic in a food, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing environment.
Desired Qualifications
HVAC, Boiler, and/or electrical experience.

Summary of Physical Demands
This position will require lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing (ladders, stairs), and the requirement to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, hard hats, gloves) to perform the duties.
