The Position
Reporting directly to the Director of Adult/Junior Tennis, the Tennis Professional contributes to the Tennis Center’s strategy and goals. The Tennis Professional instructs lessons, programs, clinics and events hosted at/by Greater Midland Tennis Center. Ensuring a positive experience for members and guests is of utmost importance. The Tennis Professional must maintain high personal standards and adhere to, and carry out, the Purpose and Values of Greater Midland.
Major Job Responsibilities
? Coordinate, administrate and oversee new and existing competitive tennis programs, clinics and events including the Dow Tennis Classic (DTC).
? Assist clients in developing and improving various tennis skills.
? Assess clients’ tennis skills to determine areas in need of improvement.
? Coordinate and conduct individual and group tennis lessons, develop
suitable training programs for clients based on their age, objectives, and
individual skill sets.
? Develop innovative ways to assist beginner or younger clients in learning and remembering the rules of the game, identify the learning styles that
work best for each client, and adapting all coaching methods accordingly.
? Create and coordinate physical training programs to maximize performance.
? Schedule meetings with students’ parents or guardians to discuss their
progress, attend students' local tennis matches, competitions, and
tournaments as required.
? Communicate clearly, accurately and consistently with members, guests
and staff.
? Consistently demonstrate growth in lessons, classes, programs and clinics.
? Assist and participate in outreach/community programs.
? Act as the Tennis Center’s “Tennis Ambassador” to enhance the value
proposition of membership.
? Participate in regular staff training and meetings.
? Consistently demonstrate leadership behaviors aligned with Greater Midland’s Values.
Qualifications
? Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Physical Education,
Sports Management, Sports Medicine, Nutrition and Fitness, Sports
Psychology, and 24 months of employment experience.
? Certification with PTR and/or USPTA.
? Accomplished player with a rating of 4.0 or above.
? Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
? A passion to create a memorable member and guest experience for our
clients.
Physical Requirements
Office is located in the Greater Midland Tennis Center. Regular communication and contact with employees and members. Occasional keyboard activity and sitting at computer; standing and moving on court for extended periods of time.
Salary
$35,000 - $40,000 per year plus aggressive incentive program
