Veoneer US Safety Systems, LLC has an opening for the position of Functional Safety Engineer (Ref# FSE66BB).
Work Location: 26360 American Drive, Southfield, MI 48034. Position may telecommute/work remotely 2 days per week.
Job Duties: Serve as an experienced safety analyst to conduct standard safety analyses and to provide feedback and guidance to the engineering design teams for systems, hardware, and software on safety findings and recommend design changes to improve automotive embedded safety systems. Responsible for Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to the methods of NUREG-0492 and/or IEC 61025, and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) / FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis) to SAE J1739, VDA 4, and/or MIL-STD-1629. Perform safety requirements analysis at the system, hardware, and software level. Conduct dependent failure/common cause analysis, operating and support hazard analysis, and maintenance safety analysis. Perform failure metrics analysis in accordance with ISO/DIS-26262 and/or Safe Failure Fraction in accordance with IEC-61508. Responsible for FTA and FMEA using computer-aided analysis tools. Provide reliability predictions in accordance with IEC 62380, MIL-HDBK-217, or Telcordia. Conduct Human Factors Analysis IAW MIL-HDBK-1472 or equivalent. Develop and deliver functional safety products which include but are not limited to: item definition, functional safety concept, impact analysis, technical safety concept, manage safety requirements, support FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis), and safety case.
Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Will accept a Master’s degree plus 1 year of experience in lieu of the required education and experience. Position requires 1 year of experience with Functional Safety and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience as per the requirements cited herein. 40hrs/week.
