Who We Want:
We are currently seeking an Electrical Cost Estimator to work in our Flex Air Division at in Fenton, MI. Flex Air focuses on delivering industry-leading, high-performance modular mechanical and electrical systems, as well as Custom HVAC systems in the automotive, semiconductor, healthcare, and education sectors.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Ensure that the policies, procedures, and integrity of the company are carried out in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives, as set forth by Executive Management.
- Create material take-offs and cost estimates for all new opportunities to determine costs for the following:
- Low, Medium, High Voltage Electrical Power Systems for Custom AHU’s, Modular Switchgear rooms, Modular Electrical Skids, Central Utility Plants, Chiller/Boiler Plants, and Pump Houses.
- Understanding DDC/PLC controls is a plus, but not required.
- Analyze and interpret electrical specifications, drawings, and other pertinent project documentation.
- Prepare preliminary electrical designs and drawings as required.
- Develop accurate and timely cost estimates for material and labor of electrical systems.
- Develop and write scope of work for electrical systems, documenting clarifications/exceptions to bid documents.
- Review project bid documents with internal estimating group to ensure accuracy and timeliness of quotes.
- Support of project management and estimating of change orders as needed.
- Study and keep current with programs, manufacturing processes and technical developments in all industrial markets.
- Identify and ensure material pricing is up to date before issuing costing to Sales.
- Assist in development of Value Engineered concepts.
- Help create and communicate company electrical standards with engineering and manufacturing.
- Coordinate with engineering, production, and management to cost all None-Core opportunities.
- Perform other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Estimating Manager.
- Follow-up with "After Build" budgets to ensure accuracy of estimate through completion of project and apply past/previous project performance to current active estimates.

What Requirements Are Needed:
Minimum: Associate Degree or Technical Degree in related discipline, required from an accredited college or university. Equivalent on the job and field experience considered.
Prefer (1-3) years of concurrent Estimating and (1-3) years of experience in Production. Experience with design/build HVAC systems is STRONGLY desired. Equivalent experience considered.
- Strong math skills to ensure understanding of budgetary considerations coupled with strong reading and listening skills.
- Adaptable to change and displays flexibility, ability to work within deadlines.
- Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Global Shop ERP, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and other systems supporting the Company's accounting needs.
- Versed in step-by-step production routing processes for creation of product.
- Ability to identify complex problems and develop and evaluate opinions to implement solutions.
- Ability to read electrical drawings along with strong knowledge and experience with design and fabrication, while working closely with the sales department and manufacturing personnel.
- Communicate with sales, manufacturing personnel, engineering, and customers to determine requirements.
